Common inquiries
What is an international payment gateway?
An international payment gateway lets a business accept and send money across borders through one integration, without sending every transfer through a chain of correspondent banks. PayKilla settles payments over blockchain rails — you and your counterparty both transact in crypto, without needing a banking relationship in every country you do business with.
Why are international payments slow and expensive today?
A standard cross-border transfer passes through several correspondent banks, each adding its own cut-off times, compliance checks and FX fees. That's why a payment can take 2–5 business days and lose anywhere from 3% to 7% to fees and markups along the way. PayKilla settles directly, without that chain of intermediaries.
How is this different from a bank transfer or SWIFT?
SWIFT routes a payment through a sequence of correspondent banks, each of which can add a fee, a delay, or bounce the payment back over a formatting error. PayKilla settles payments directly on shared rails — no correspondent chain, no banking-hours cut-offs, and settlement in minutes rather than days.
Do I need to understand crypto and hold it myself to use PayKilla?
PayKilla runs entirely on crypto, but you don't need to manage the technical side yourself. You don't need trading experience, wallet management skills or blockchain knowledge. The integration, checkout and settlement flow work like a standard payment processor, while PayKilla handles the underlying mechanics.
Which international payment gateway should I choose?
It depends on your corridors, volume, and whether you need gateway, card acceptance and payouts under one integration or separate providers for each. PayKilla is built for businesses that want to accept, hold, exchange and send through one provider, without using separate vendors for each function.
Which industries do you work with?
Gaming and digital goods, financial services, e-commerce and retail, technology and software, real estate, and travel and hospitality — any business that sends or receives payments across borders and is losing time or margin to the traditional banking chain.
How do payments reach me from another country?
Your customer or partner pays in crypto into a dedicated address or checkout flow; PayKilla confirms the payment on-chain, screens it for AML, and credits your account in crypto — without the payment passing through a chain of banks.
How long does an international payment take?
Settlement is instant once the payment is confirmed — typically minutes, not the 1–5 business days a SWIFT transfer takes.
Can I settle in fiat or withdraw to a bank account?
You can't fund a payment in fiat, and PayKilla doesn't withdraw to a bank account by default — everything settles in crypto, mostly stablecoins, so you hold a fiat-pegged balance without the volatility of BTC or ETH. A bank withdrawal isn't part of the standard flow, but it can be set up as a custom integration on request.
What happens if the rate moves during a transaction?
The rate is locked at the point the payment is confirmed, so you settle at the rate you were quoted — you're not exposed to price movement between the customer paying and the funds reaching you.
Do you hold a rolling reserve?
No. PayKilla doesn't hold a rolling reserve — funds settle to you directly instead of being held back against future chargebacks or disputes.
Which countries and cryptocurrencies do you support?
PayKilla supports payments across a wide range of countries and cryptocurrencies/stablecoins — coverage isn't limited by local banking rails, since everything settles on-chain rather than through in-country bank accounts.
Which countries or industries do you not serve?
As a regulated payment provider, PayKilla doesn't work with sanctioned jurisdictions or restricted business categories.
Is this suitable for marketplaces and platforms?
Yes. Marketplaces and platforms can use PayKilla to collect payments from customers in multiple countries and route payouts to sellers, partners or contractors without managing separate banking relationships in each market.
Do you support B2B payments to suppliers and vendors?
Yes. You can pay suppliers and vendors abroad directly, without the delays and fees of a correspondent-bank wire.
Can I pay contractors and creators in other countries?
Yes. With PayKilla, you can pay contractors and creators internationally, settling faster than a standard bank transfer and without the sender absorbing multiple intermediary fees.
Can I both accept payments and send payouts abroad?
Yes. Gateway and payouts run on the same integration, so you can accept payments from customers and send payouts to partners, contractors or vendors without connecting a second provider.
What does international payment processing cost?
Fees start from 0.5%, configured per merchant based on volume and use case — no setup fee, no monthly fee and no minimum volume requirement.
Are there FX markups or hidden conversion fees?
No. There are no FX markups or hidden conversion fees — settlement happens in crypto/stablecoins rather than through bank FX conversion, so the rate you're quoted is the rate you settle at.
How does this compare to bank wires and card processing?
Bank wires add correspondent-bank fees and FX spread at every hop; card processing adds interchange fees and chargeback exposure. PayKilla settles directly, with a transparent fee from 0.5% and no chargebacks.
How do I integrate — API, checkout widget or plugin?
There are three integration options: a REST API for custom checkout flows, a hosted or embedded widget that needs no frontend work, and ready-made plugins. The right option depends on your stack and timeline — standard API integration can be live in hours.
How are AML checks handled, and can a payment be held?
Every payment is screened by Smart AML System, one of the leading blockchain AML analytics platforms, before funds are credited.
What support do you provide?
You get direct access to the team behind your configuration, available 24/7.
